What's the truth about Prague, Czech Republic???
I've been researching all the past answers on nightlife and cultural destinations in Europe. I am planning on studying abroad in Fall of 2008, and I'm focusing in on Prague and Barcelona. Some people say Prague is a great city, some say it has great nightlife, some say watch out for theives, and numerous people have said that its streets are dead after 8-10pm (20:00-22:00). How can this be? The only consistent things I've gathered are that it is touristy and it is relatively cheap. What is the truth?!?!

- Its Europe, everythings dead when they're done with afternoon tea.
- Amazing city, and it's true is very touristic, during the peak season i don't think is dead after 22:00,I've been there and there were thousands of people walking in the streets of Prague at midnight,i think Prague would be a very good place to study...best of luck...
- In Prague I was feeling safe, first of all. There are no more thieves there than anywhere else, though Czech people may be aware of them. Prague is marvelous, spiritual, lively… never dead. Would you look for nightlife in the streets? Or rather in clubs, discos, restaurants, there are plenty of ‘bohemian’ (artistic) places there! I remember walking in the evening in Old Town square, jazz bands playing blues in the open air, giving a special warm spirit to the place and the moment. For students Prague is a unique place to get a high level education and nice international communication. One can have a great time there, but it also depends on you. Good luck!
- Amazing city. Still relatively cheap as compared to London, Rome or Paris- but influx of tourism are pushing prices upward. Gorgeous scenery and architecture- and if you are a man- it is home to some of the most beautiful women I have ever seen- and I have traveled a lot. People are friendly and many speak English. Like all big cities in Europe- be on the look out for pickpockets- but violent crime is rare. Highly recommended.
