1. ive stayed at the hotel melonu a couple of times.... its about a 10 minute walk from Wenceslas Square. it is a basic nice hostel..if you are staying with a couple of people you can rent out a whole room, that has a couple of beds and private bath...or you can get a few private rooms. mostly the rooms range from 2-4 bedroom and you can share bathrooms and showers, but as i said...you can get your own it is inexpensive, you get free breakfast, it has an outside area with tables and chairs thats in the middle of the hotel. you also always meet very interesting people in that area too! http://www.praguehotel-link.cz/Hostel_U_Melounu/accm_photo_gallery http://www.hostelumelounu.cz/en/
2. The Ibis in Karlin. Cheap, nice rooms, and there's a tram stop right outside which will take you to the centre in around 10 minutes. You can even buy the tickets for the tram at the reception. Also a very nice pizza place across the road, and an incredible and cheap italian restaurant 1 block down called Pizzaria Manna. I used to live in that area, and I went there all the time. The staff are nice, and it's such good value for money!
