Thanks

Do you think Americans are less educated on arts compared to other cultures? I was just in Europe for the holidays and I visited several countries such as Holland, Germany, Prague and France. I realized that they are serious about Art and the design of everything being a bit more intricate and unique....is it just me or does anyone else find that in America we just aren't as crazy about those things such as Art here? I mean personally as an artist I am but finding others who are is just harder to find. Any thoughts?
Where should an elderly couple(in their 50s/60s) go for holiday in Eastern Europe?(e.g. Budapest, Prague, etc)? I am looking for recommendations for a holiday vacation for an american elderly couple - they are looking for places with a lot of history and tourism activities - with very safe environments and hopefully some English-speaking capability at tourist places of interest. They are interested in the area east of Switzerland (Austria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovak Republic, Poland, Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, etc, etc). If you had to suggest your top 3-5 cities to visit, which would they be and why?

Ergo carrier and holidays question....? So I finally got the Ergo carrier (thanks to all the great reviews from mums on YA, mainly DYOT:), and I'm wandering if it is possible to take just the carrier and leave the buggy at home while on holidays. We'll be spending a week in Prague, with all the buggy-unfriendly cobbled streets and a few days in the mountains, there will be a lot of walking involved. My daughter is just under 20lb. Has anyone done holidays without the buggy, using baby carrier only? Thanks for answering :) Interesting new name:)

I want to book a cheap holiday in Sept for me and my bf.We love beautiful sights, good food and fun.Any ideas? I'd love to book a lake/mountains holiday but think this is a little out of our price range but would be grateful for suggestions. Have looked at Switzerland, Sweden, Prague, Finland, and Europe but feel lost when it comes to choosing a destination. We love seafood and sights so perhaps somewhere near the sea? Have very little experience in travelling but very willing to experiment somewhere we won't be completely lost not knowing a complete language! Thanks a lot!
Where should me and my friends go on holiday? My friends and I finish our Leaving Certificate exams this year (big, life-changing exams we've studied for 6 years!) and we're going to go on holiday. But we don't know where! We're all between 17 and 18 years old. We were going to go to Gran Canaria, but decided it was too touristy. We want a bit of adventure, a bit of culture, prefereably a cheap place with a healthy nightlife. Somewhere sunny. We were thinking Prague or Amsterdam? Could anyone please give some ideas, tips, or share your experiences having been in our position? Thanks!
Prague, Best places to visit? My wife and I are both off to Prague Next Week for a couple of days Spring Holiday. Can you recommend any good Historic / Cultural to visit within the city area? Where should I go to in Europe for a long weekend in June? Want to go somewhere cultural but warm, so not really after a beach or pool holiday, for 3-4 nights in Europe. AMSTERDAM VS. PRAGUE? The lads and I are discussing holiday options for 2009. We have narrowed it down to two destinations... Amsterdam or Prague. I was wondering whether anyone can give and opinions on both of these places and give a rating for the following: Price Places to Visit Clubs/Bars Smoking/Alcohol Policy Hotels/Host The People Transport Overall Don't worry if you can answer them all, anything will be helpful!! Cheers, Joe
Should I save up to buy a new camera (digital SLR) in June, or take my husband to Prague (a surprise) now? As well as our joint account, we allow ourselves £50 each per month that we don't have to account to the other for. I've saved £110. The holiday is £160 - so do-able next month. It's somewhere he's been before and said he'd like to show me. Last year he took me to Copenhagen. I took him to Switzerland as a combined anniversary / Christmas / birthday present (LOTS of saving required!) We both love travelling. The camera will be about £500. We have a digital camera, held together with sellotape. It works OK, but I'd like a new one - for taking photos of our travels! The plan was to get it in time for going to Norway next year (which we're saving for separately). So - Prague or the posh camera?
What are the best holiday destinations in Europe to meet women? Am planning a short break with my friends and we are all single. We're therefore looking for your advice on a great city in Europe to visit where there is a good ratio of women to men going out in the clubs and bars. I've been told Prague is good but isn't it just full of blokes on stag nights?
The best tourist destinations in Eastern Europe? I've been to lots of countries in western europe, and am currently living in Russia, for this winter holiday, I plan to backpack through some of the countries in eastern europe. Can someone list me some good tourist destinations? I have Prague in my mind already, and maybe Bran and Brasov in Romania. What about other countries? Thanks for all your replies! I am really in love with ancient cities. Old cities with cobblestone path, with an ancient and historic castle cast in the background, that's my idea of a dream holiday. Can anybody suggest a place like I had just described? Oh, another thing, I am not a Russian, just a foreigner living here. But I am used to the cold weather here (there was once when temperature dipped as low as -25 degrees on an afternoon). Would it be similiar in eastern europe too? Snows and cold winds?
Cheapest lads holiday destination with a good nightlife in europe? Went to amsterdam last year and it was quality, not sure where to go this year though, don't fancy ibiza or places like that due to the price but places like berlin, prague and bulgaria look ideal. Don't know much about these though, any thoughts on them and other places?
How Safe is it in Prague in Terms of Crime? I ask because my boyfriend and myself are going to travel to Prague for a week, staying in a self-catering apartment which is about a 5 minute walk away from Wenscelas Square (which I hear is somewhat unsafe at night). I am just quite worried because I also hear that pick-pocketing is common and there is the occasional mugging. Are these just overblown rumours (obviously with some truth behind them), but is it really as bad as I have read? It just sounds like a wonderful city but I don't want my holiday to be ruined with my personal belongings being stolen. Also: the apartment wouldn't be broken in to would it? I swear I'm being too paranoid about this all, hehe =) Thank you for any help xx
Can you give me some input on "What European city should I visit? I am planning a holiday sometime in the next few months and I can't seem to decide where to go. Can you give me pointers why I should choose a particular city and what are some of its highlights. My choises thusfar are Vienna and Prague or Budapest. What do you think? I could really use some good suggestions.
Where should I take my friend on holiday in April? It's his 40th birthday and I fancy treating him but I don't have a lot of money. Can stretch to about a grand in total. The thing is, he likes luxury, so 4* at least and won't fly for more than 2-3 hours. I'm uk based. To give you some idea, the most recent places we've been (and liked) are Prague, Budapest and the Canaries so any suggestions at all would be great! Something a bit different might be nice... Thanks!
Going anywhere nice for your holidays this year? I might check out Prague, or go th Crete. Vixonvee - you're freaking me out - I've just come back from Mexico, I've been to Amsterdam and used to live in Spain, and I went surfing in Newquay - how weird is that?
